Hi! I’m Katie Pritchard
a Los Angeles wedding photographer.
I became a wedding photographer in a not-so-usual way. Growing up, I played sports almost exclusively. I remember telling my girl scout leader that I actually hated art. When my grandma encouraged me to join band and learn to play the flute in Jr. High, it felt like my dormant creative side was finally awake. In college, I switched to a photography major one semester in after realizing Marine Biology was not for me. From there, I landed in weddings after a classmate asked me to shoot their wedding. And since I’m a romantic and all…I knew I had found the perfect fit.
I went on to graduate from CSUF with a BFA in photography in 2012 and have been full-time ever since. While many believe an arts degree isn’t valuable, I used my time in college as the foundation for how I approach my work today. We were an entirely film-based program, so I learned how to properly compose and execute an image on a film camera (sometimes with negatives the size of your hand). It’s a part of my story that I really cherish and feel lucky to have experienced. I also was fortunate enough to work 10+ years for Green Wedding Shoes and help share couple’s stories and current wedding trends.
I also believe equality for all is something worth fighting for every day. In the words of Hamilton on Broadway “If you stand for nothing, what will you fall for?”

My Approach
to weddings involves carefully blending beautiful, romantic images with a candid and journalistic eye. Both elements are key in my storytelling process. With over 13 years experience as a Los Angeles wedding photographer and a fine art degree to back it up, my skills help me understand important imagery on a deeper level. While I do work in a more relaxed style, I understand that most people don’t know what to do in front of a camera. My job is to help bring out genuine and real moments between two people.
I’m also someone who appreciates all the details that go into a wedding. From weddings with thoughtful ideas and beautiful floral installations – to intimate elopements with only 10 guests at City Hall – all of it matters to me as I’m sure it does to you. To perfectly capture the essence of a wedding, it’s the little moments + details that matter!
I roll with the punches and love a laid back affair, but thrive with schedules because I know how important each wedding moment is to capture! No two weddings are the same and each one deserves it’s own perspective that is unique to you. Having that ‘artist’s heart’, I want each and every one of my images I deliver to be creative and thoughtful. So let’s make some art together!
