Rebecca + Jawnos had a pretty killer engagement session which means you are in for a visual treat! SO MUCH I could say about these two friends of mine, but for now I’ll let them tell you THEIR story.
I asked them how they met, and this what they said:
“Our parents grew up with each other in the same small city. We were introduced to each other throughout our childhood and we reconnected through our mutual friend Nina – on the first day of high school our freshman year. We stayed friends the rest of the year. Had lunch together with our small group of friends everyday of the year as well. We went to the homecoming dance with our friends and I got Jawnos to dance with me- he was pretty nervous 🙂 February came along and I asked Jawnos to the Sadie Hawkins Dance. He claimed he didn’t know I liked him at that point. We waited until July (17th 2006) and finally started dating – and now here we are 11 years later.”

And of course, the best question – how did Jawnos propose?
“Jawnos’ mom told me she wanted my help throwing Jawnos a surprise birthday party. So I invited each of our families and close friends over on November 7, 2015. My job was to distract him when he got home from work and get him out of the house within an hour (anyone who know Jawnos, knows he takes his sweet time) so I finally got him out of the house and drove him around. We have a full detailed video on our YouTube channel (Real Life with Jawnos & Rebecca). Anyway, I blindfolded Jawnos and drove back to the house. We parked and I realized there were so many cars outside and I didn’t remember inviting that many people. We walk up (still blindfolded) and I hear a special song playing called, “let’s get married” by Jagged Edge and I smelled tacos. As soon as I heard the song I started to shiver and tear up. Meanwhile Jawnos was still blindfolded, I forgot to tell him to take it off because I was in a mini panic. We walk into the house it’s dark and I can see candles and people in the backyard through the curtains. He took off the blindfold and we walked out together to our families and close friends standing around the candlelit, flower-surrounded pool, and he walked me over the the center – held my hands said “I want to be with you forever-” got down on one knee and asked me to marry him in front of everyone. Of course I shook my head and said yes loud enough only for us two to hear. Then I said “finally!” Loud and everyone laughed clapped cried and hugged us. It was perfect. Him and everyone there knew all along that he planned to propose- so when I texted everyone it was a surprise party- the surprise was really for me.”
And lastly, what are you most excited about for your wedding day?
From Rebecca: “I am most excited to become Jawnos’ wife. We’ve waited 11.5 years for this day to finally come and I can’t wait for our closest family and friends to be there to share this amazing moment with us. I mostly can’t wait to share our one on one- aka first look- last moments of being engaged, single, whatever you want to call it – together. It’s something that I look forward to. It’s going to be one of the only moments together alone – it’s a moment where I want to completely take everything in and focus on Jawnos.”
From Jawnos: “To finally get married and to be happy. I’m excited to have a fun day and I’m excited to see how happy Rebecca is going to be. I’m excited to have a couple of minutes with Rebecca before the ceremony – it’ll be our time and not everyone else. It’ll be something we get to share together, anxiousness, excitement, being nervous together, and happy.”
So cute right?! Rebecca is a #girlboss and runs her own wedding product line called Little Brownn Suitcase (their calligraphy blanket above being one of the amazing things she can make) so make sure you check out her stuff!
